Hi, I am Thomas Tompkins, LCSW, and a therapist in San Antonio, Texas.
Raised in a military family, I am familiar with the challenges and often destabilizing experiences faced by families and survivors of trauma.
As an adult, I found my way through life, realizing that my earlier experiences had helped me to develop resilience and a persistent drive to survive. I believe that you have the ability to succeed as well. I am here to help you get from where you are now, on to your own path of success.
I am here to assist you in transitioning through the life events and challenges that you are facing. These might include your recovery from trauma or PTSD, the loss of a loved one, relationship struggles, stress and depression, job or career changes, or the desire to improve your life circumstances.
I am best known for my ability to create a safe and nurturing container, enabling my clients to discover, heal, and reemerge with insight and the skills to live a more empowered and satisfying life.
Experience & licensure
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas, with a Masters of Social Work from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I began my social work practice at Haven for Hope, in San Antonio, assisting individuals challenged by homelessness.
I have also worked extensively with individuals and their families who have been impacted with terminal illness. I have trained and worked as a career counselor and received training in trauma recovery, anger management, and psychoanalysis. I am also experienced in using creative arts, such as painting, poetry, and dance to assist in the discovery and healing process.
